"I have to get better at asking questions beforehand...," Yuina thought to herself as a trembling hand reached out and grabbed at the very edge of the curtain off to the side. Wide eyes stared out to the way too many people that were out in the gathering audience that she was getting ready to step out in front of.[break][break]
"Maybe that group is getting ready to leave... Oh no, they're calling more people over..."[break]
"It doesn't really look like that many people... No wait, that piece of the stage is blocking an entire part I can't see..."[break]
"Do I remember all the words to the songs? What is the second song called? Wait, is that the one where..."[break][break]
Yuina stepped back from the curtain, letting it fall back into place, fingers twisted together in an anxious, nervous knot. She turned and bumped into an extra speaker, fumbling before coming back towards DESIREE BLOOMS and Melody Miro. It was a wonder she hadn't run a rut into the backstage floor in her inability to sit still.[break][break]
"Desi, angel, how do you do this all the time? There's so many people," Yuina asked, likely not for the first time, with a tremble in her voice as the clock continued to tick down to the opening show. That was them... Her... They were opening the entire event... They were opening the event getting ready to go on stage and she didn't feel like she was anywhere close to ready to being able to do this. Why was she doing this? Did she really need to be up there? They could do it without here, everyone already knew who they were... Was she ready for anyone to know who she was? When she didn't even know herself...[break][break]
No, she had already committed, she already did all of the rehearsing, she was committed to Desiree... In an outfit that wasn't hers, singing songs that weren't hers, on stage with two famous performers, a gym leader and the region champion...[break]
She would never forgive herself if she left now though, left Desiree when she promised. Everything would be okay, right?[break][break]
She moved back towards the curtains in another nervous flourish, the same morbid curiosity taking over, and sure enough there were that many more people that had gathered as they continued to get closer. Yuina felt like she had never questioned herself more than in this very moment, pulse beating in her ears, when a fleeting thought caught her otherwise addled mind. If John Sullivan was already out there somewhere, she couldn't very well not end up on stage either...

To contrast Yuina, melody was a beaming ray of sunshine. The EXCITEMENT on her face was as plain as day. She LOVED being on stage, sharing her voice with the region, letting it inspire them to continue living. [break][break]

But she could see that Yuina was having a hard time with it. She used to get the jitters like that too. Melody places a hand on the girl's shoulder "Don't worry, breath in breath out." she says as she turns Yuina around and uses her thumbs to massage the girl's shoulders and assist her.[break][break]

Primarina chirps happily at the girl trying to calm her as well. "I've done this a million times, don't worry i'm gonna make sure you look AMAZING." she emphasizes as melody wanted the focus to be on the other two artists and not her. [break][break]

"My Pokémon will also be helpin us out here n there so don't worry!" she says "Right desi? She's got nothing to worry about right?"

The glint in her eyes was likely brighter than Yuina had ever seen it before- especially in these times. A brilliant fractal, one that could not be dulled by the tapping of a cigarette into an ashtray with one hand, and the applying of lip gloss in the other.[break][break]

“My venues aren’t often as packed as this one,” she responded softly to the inquiry, “.. the thing about confidence is that nobody knows if it’s real or fake, Yuina.. if you don’t give them an option to believe it's anything but real.”[break][break]

She lightly giggled at the combined efforts of her pink haired idol counterpart- yet in comparison, she felt much more CALM than she did EXCITED. Sure, they went hand in hand, but she put in effort to take on moments like these with serene grace. Effortless beauty, effortless movement- for it came from her soul rather than her mind.[break][break]

“You have absolutely nothing to worry about.” She smiled, extending a hand to tuck a strand of hair behind Yuina’s ear.[break][break]

Hunched beneath Melody's hands trying to ease the tension in her shoulders and looking Desi in the eye as she tucked a strand of brunette back behind her ear, Yuina was caught somewhere between having all of the confidence in the world encompassed by the two of them and the most insurmountable fear that she wasn't who this festival needed.[break][break]
It was time... the curtains were getting ready to draw, and Yuina's amber eyes bore into those of glittering pink of her angel in front of her... There was no turning back now.[break][break]
This was a song that Yuina had never heard before, but was now intimately familiar with as they had been rehearsing and practicing. She wouldn't have ever been able to pick a song for herself with how few she actually knew, and so when Desiree picked out a song special just for her... It was more than just a song to perform, it was the message that her angel wanted her to know and believe to be true.[break][break]

Rather go out in a blaze of glory[break]

An upbeat rythym, energetic music, and the three of them on stage opening the festival for the musical performances. With Desiree Blooms and Melody Miro headlining, it was no wonder that the crowd cheered in an energy that was truly electric, a wave of shared excitement and bonding that brought everyone together. It didn't matter who they were, where they came from, what they were doing before this or would do after, every person in the crowd was united by music.[break][break]
'I'll live now 'cause the bad die last[break]
Dodging bullets with your broken past'[break][break]
If only they knew, if only anyone knew how true the words really were... But Desiree knew, which is why she chose the song for Yuina, and in a way... Telling her truth without making it known was... Liberating, but anxiety inducing all the same. If only they knew how broken her past really was, how much she feared herself.[break][break]
'Wrapped in your regret[break]
What a waste of blood and sweat[break][break]
I wanna taste love and pain[break]
Wanna feel pride and shame'[break][break]
Singing alongside Desiree and Melody though, Yuina kept on through the song and the energy of both of them feeding into the performance. In spite of everything that she felt, it was difficult not to lean into how much fun the two of them were having, how natural it was for them to be on stage... This was all certainly an experience... That she was thankful she could do the one time, but maybe she would ask better questions next time...

Melody grins as they get on stage. She feels right at home as she preforms through the song Yuina picked for them to dance to and she sees the girl start to warm up as well. A the end of the song they stand there for a moment and wave to the crowd and Melody walks forward. [break][break]

"EVERYONE GIVE IT UP FOR YUINA!!" she says as she hypes up the girl from behind as the staff prepare for the next song. "I HOPE YOU'RE ALL READY! I'VE BEEN COOKING UP SOME NEW MUSIC IN THE STUDIO FOR YOU ALL THAT I WAS HOPING TO SHOW OFF TODAY!" she says as the crowd hears that and absolutely starts to lose their minds to this news. They try to record with their phones but their devices don't work for some reason. That's why she chose this, she wanted rumours to stir, she wanted everyone to be talking about it but be unable to share the song to build anticipation of it's release. [break][break]

The beat starts and Melody flips a coin with her thumb into the air. A gholdengo coin, suddenly a swarm of coins emerge from the crowd as Melody's gholdengo weaves it's form through the crowd and the pokemon emerges on the stage immediately using MAKE IT RAIN. It covers the stage and blocks the view of the crowd for a moment as Melody gets into position and winks to both Yuina Higashi and DESIREE BLOOMS . [break][break]

The stage shifts as well as Melody's psychic Pokémon shuffle around the stage props a bit to be more poker card themed. As the MAKE IT RAIN move ends, the trio is ready and Melody takes the lead. "Play the game, who's gonna win or lose this time round Kings and queens, put on your poker face. You're bluffing, two-faced, I see through your façade, so Go all out, we doin' this my way"[break][break]

She sings as she walks around as the pure definition of Confidence. Both of her toxtricities arrive on stage and start to play their supporting instrumentals as well as emit poison shockwaves into the air for added effects, turning the area around them a slight shade of yellow purple and pink and causing everyone's hairs to stand on edge. [break][break]

(Uh) Wanted me to hang it up and lay off
(Uh) Why you so afraid that I'mma take off? Restrictions, ah, you’re no fun. Play it, fake it, ayy. Ah, ah, you're trapped. You can't react to this, you seeing. What I got, you just don't got.

The, the tension is high
Your, your life's on the line. This adrenaline high, II love it, love it.
I, I see you been tryin' but You're wasting your time Wanna play? I'll show you, I'll Give em' all a show .You can't stop me, take control. Think you get me? No, you don't. Wait 'till I step in, I'm cold. I'mma get up and pose. Switch the game up, I know Got you face up, "Oh no!" Ha, you weren't even close.[break][break]

During the performance her Pokémon continue to work diligently to enhance the performance by adding special effects during her performance and she creates a rather ENERGETIC AND HAPPY EFFECT over the room. [break][break]

As the song ends Melody stands there huffing and puffing as she gave that performance her absolute all and she immediately bows for the crowd and waves excitedly for it. "Stay tuned for more info on the album!!"

Sweat was the ever-encompassing mark that performance was going well, especially in the eyes of the crystalline pinkette- and though the song she made to encapsulate herself was the last of the three, she wished for it to be the most grand. It was what the people of Hoenn deserved after facing so much, being a loving and tender embrace through words rather than physical touch.[break][break]

She smiled at all the pleasantries, shooting both of her fellow performers warm winks and smiles as the stage design died down during her and Melody's picks. "You're ethereal, Yuina," she whispered to her dearest friend before approaching Melody's annunciating side, ".. don't let all of her talents go unlistened! ✧ Are you ready for another?"[break][break]

Starry eyes meeting members of the crowd one by one, the stage's lights began to trail and leave wisps resembling stars that the wind had kissed. From these stars appeared Carbink who had previously wished to hide, alongside a Milotic from the depths of the stage's innards- each channeling fairy light of MOONBLASTS and FAIRY WINDS as the song began. Dancing and singing were all involved with the three, as the choreography and lyrics were delicately constructed to switch between the trio every few bars.[break][break]

The lyrics were quite softer and nuanced in comparison to any she'd ever written before- airy yet TENDER, encapsulating the audience not only with starry heart-eyes but also with a deep message. As Desiree continued to dance, unveiling silky ribbons that she was to twirl in the fairy light, she hoped the audience would be able to understand as much as she did.[break][break]

By looking at the bigger picture and letting it flow into the wind, the darkest clouds could be pushed away to reveal the brightness of tomorrow.

In a whirlwind of energy, beating music, flashing lights, and screams and shouts, it was over before Yuina even knew it... Desi's song came to an end, music fading and lights falling still, and as the crowd erupted she found herself clung to Desiree as they came to the edge of the stage at their conclusion.[break][break]
She couldn't believe she just did that... In front of all of these people, putting herself out there and performing as if she were on par with Desiree and Melody. It would have never happened if Desi hadn't asked her... And in the end, she was proud and happy to have been able to experience this with her angel...[break][break]
"Thank you Desi... thank you for this," Yuina offered quietly, leaning in beside her angel, touching the side of her head to Desi's cheek.[break]
Would she ever want to do this again? Likely no... But was it an experience like no other? Absolutely. Something like this would transcend lifetimes, as many as she might have, she would remember this forever and always, and she did smile beneath bleary amber eyes as she softly waved out to the audience.

Melody smiled as Desi's song came to a close and she took center stage for a moment "Everyone give another round of applause for these lovely women over here! Also give it up to the pokemon and people who helped make this show possible! the production crew!" she says as she bows towards Yuina and Desiree. She couldn't have pulled this thing off without them all. [break][break]

Melody turns back towards the crowd afterwards as well "Thank you all for coming to our show! Please take care and don't forget to buy my Miro merch at the exits of the venue! Half of the proceeds go towards the H.O.M.E project so it'll really help us out with taking care of the pokemon there!" she exlcaims as the crowd moves over to buy the merch. [break][break]

Melody walks back over to the trio and talks to them both "Thank you guys so much! I had a blast, it was really nice getting to do this!"

The silks she twirled effortlessly around her had fallen, lights cascading their bodies- and it was finally finished. Taking deep, still breaths as she held a final pose with her back arched to allow all the lights to come upon her sternum and cheeks, she smiled as she took in as many fan faces as her attention would allow. Unbroken only by the approach of those she had taken the stage beside, listening intently as she embraced Yuina from the side.[break][break]

“No, thank you,” she said softly, holding a hand to guide the Carbinks closer, “.. we couldn’t have done this without each other.”[break][break]

The Carbinks twirled, satisfying the roaring crowd with additional MOONBLASTS- and a hefty, pleased cry of the graceful Milotic.[break][break]

“My merch is at the exits, too- and a few elektron monomachines, if you’re super inspired, ✧” she announced with an appreciative grin and a wave, “ .. and I’ll be donating half of the proceeds to H.O.M.E, too!”[break][break]

Glancing at Melody with rosiness on her cheeks, it was an unplanned offer- and though she had never worked within the project, it felt fitting. After all, two of those on the stage had their gaze set upon it- and she didn’t need to hoard money, she had plenty of it already.

Finally released, the performance over, Yuina scurried out of the limelight and back behind the curtains as quick as she could manage with Desiree and Melody behind her. The crowd never stopped cheering, buzz went on about merch, donations, how the festival was only just beginning, but to Yuina it was well over... She could feel it.[break][break]
Everything was blurry, heavy, her pulse was in her ears and she felt like her knees could give out any moment. The adrenaline was starting to wear off, and she was entirely exhausted mentally and physically.[break][break]

Melody skips happily along the stage off the stage, she's extremely happy with the turnout of the event. [break][break]

She also was even happy that Desiree agreed to also send half of the profits to H.O.ME it was a very heartwarming feeling. This event really hit close to home for her, how music can unite so many different people from all different walks of life. [break][break]
